The 2D editor

Editor tools & shortcuts

Every tool available in the 2D editor, what it does, and how to use it precisely.

After a model is generated, the 2D editor lets you review and correct every detected element — walls, doors, windows and more — before you download the final BIM. The active tool is shown in the toolbar at the bottom of the canvas; clicking the guide icon next to it opens a short animated reminder of how the current tool works.

PanC

Click and drag anywhere on the canvas to scroll around the drawing. You can also pan at any time by holding the middle mouse button, regardless of which tool is active.

SelectV

Click a shape to select it. Drag over empty space to select everything inside the rectangle. Hold Shift and click to add or remove individual shapes from the selection. With something selected, use Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V to copy and paste it, or Delete to remove it.

SnapSpace (while in Select)

Aligns one or more shapes flush against another shape. First pick what to move: click a shape, click-drag to select several at once, or click-drag over empty space to marquee-select. Then hold Space and hover the shape you want to snap against — it highlights as the reference — and click it to snap every selected shape to its nearest side. Press Esc at any point to cancel.

Drawing tools

These tools draw new elements directly onto the floor plan (or elevation, where noted). Each defaults to a sensible thickness, set from the Thickness field in the sidebar. Toggle the lock icon next to that field to keep it applied to every new wall, door, window, building outline or railing you draw next, instead of resetting each time.

Wall / BuildingW

Draws a straight wall by clicking one corner, then the opposite corner. On elevation drawings this becomes the Building tool, used to trace the building's outline.

Angled wallA

Draws a wall at any angle: click the first point, move to preview it, then click the second point to finish. Snaps to 5° steps by default — hold Ctrl to snap to the nearest wall corner instead, or hold Shift for a completely free angle.

DoorD

Marks a door opening in a wall.

WindowF

Marks a window opening in a wall.

Slab holeS

Marks an opening in a floor slab, such as a stairwell or shaft.

RailingL

Marks a railing, for example along a stairwell, balcony or open edge.

ColumnO

Marks a structural column.

RectangleR

Draws a rectangular shape: click one corner, move to preview, then click the opposite corner to finish. Useful for quickly outlining rooms or blocking in a shape before assigning it a specific type.

PenP

Draws a free-form, multi-sided shape one point at a time. Click to place each point, then right-click (or use the Finish action) to close the shape.

Removing elements

DeleteQ

Click any shape to remove it immediately. Switch to another tool when you're done — there's no separate exit step. You can also select one or more shapes with the Select tool and press Delete/Backspace instead.

Undo is always available
Every drawing action — including deletions — can be undone with Ctrl+Z and redone with Ctrl+Y, so it's safe to experiment.

Scale & alignment

Alongside the drawing tools, each floor plan has a Scale tab for setting real-world measurements (covered in Uploading & scaling drawings) and an Align tab for lining up multiple floor plans against each other — see Floors & elevations.
